MPLS (imPulse): Sing Me a Story

Some of the greatest stories are those that span generations. Children’s books, specifically, hold special places in our hearts—mainly because of the frequency in which we read them. How many times have you read Goodnight Moon or another book that you could recite by memory for the rest of your life?

MPLS (imPulse) presents Sing Me a Story, a collection of new and well loved children’s literature set to music, along with live projections. A perfect musical event for children and adults of all ages.

Also featured on the program are musical submissions from the Sing Me a Story Foundation, which “gives children in need the opportunity to write and illustrate stories about anything they want.” Childrens’ stories are then presented to songwriters and composers who turn their stories into songs.

MPLS (imPulse) is a semi-professional chamber chorus dedicated to stretching the boundaries of tradition and convention in choral music, and providing exciting and challenging opportunities for singers, composers, collaborators, and audiences in the Twin Cities.

Founded in 2014 by Samuel Grace, MPLS (imPulse) engages communities of choral singers and audiences with music that is new to them, in spaces that surprise them, and with partners who bring an exciting twist and added depth to its programs. A flexible partner, MPLS (imPulse) is willing to entertain any wild idea and consistently illuminates new pathways and opportunities for the beauty of choral singing.
