Sunday, May 18 at 3 p.m.

Our series finale will feature music and/or texts from the British Isles. Choirs from St. Philip the Deacon and Meetinghouse Church collaborate to present Ralph Vaughan William’s colorful Five Mystical Songs, featuring soloist Andrew Kane and Artaria String Quartet.

Additional repertoire for the program includes Charles Hubert H. Parry’s I was glad and Samuel Barber’s setting of Dover Beach. Artaria will also perform a set of selections for string quartet.

The SPD Sanctuary Choir is comprised of adult members of St. Philip the Deacon Lutheran Church.

The choirs at Meetinghouse Church welcome Jesus into our body, mind, and spirit through worship and song. The Meetinghouse Church choral program consists of volunteers and professionals singing music of all ages and genres.

The Artaria String Quartet is named after the Italian publishers of the first issues of Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven quartets, Artaria’s refined and thoughtful playing has brought them critical acclaim in Europe and throughout the United States. The Boston Globe describes Artaria as “exquisitely balanced and sonorous” and that “their musical understanding was first-rate.”
